Big Warehouse Refurbs is a trading name of The Refurb Co Pty Ltd (ABN 47 637 046 363) ("we", "us", "our"). We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what we collect, why, and how you can access or correct it.
1. What we collect
- Contact and order details: your name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address, and order history.
- Payment information: payments are processed by our payment providers (such as Shopify Payments, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Afterpay). We do not see or store your full card details.
- Support and warranty details: messages, photos or videos you send us about an order, return or warranty claim.
- Website and device information: pages viewed, items added to cart, approximate location, and device and browser type, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
- Marketing preferences: whether you have subscribed to our emails and how you interact with them.
2. How we collect it
We collect information when you place an order, create an account, contact us, subscribe to our emails, leave a review, or browse our website. We may also receive information from the marketplaces you buy through (such as eBay or Kogan) so we can fulfil your order.
3. How we use it
- To process, ship and track your order and send order updates.
- To handle returns, refunds, exchanges and warranty claims.
- To respond to your questions and provide support.
- To send marketing emails if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
- To measure and improve our website, products and advertising.
- To prevent fraud and meet our legal obligations.
4. Who we share it with
We only share personal information with service providers who help us run our business, and only what they need to do their job. These include our ecommerce platform (Shopify), payment providers, delivery carriers, our email marketing provider, our product review provider, and analytics and advertising partners (such as Google and Meta). We do not sell your personal information.
5. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States, Canada, Ireland and other countries where they or their sub-processors operate. We take reasonable steps to make sure they handle your information in line with Australian privacy standards.
6. Cookies and advertising
We use cookies and similar tools to keep our website working, remember your cart, understand how the site is used and show you relevant ads on other platforms. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may not work properly without them.
7. Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep order and warranty records for as long as we need them for the purposes above and to meet tax and legal requirements, then delete or de-identify them.
8. Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you by emailing support@bigwarehouserefurbs.com.au. If you have a privacy concern, contact us first and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.
